It’s impossible to walk a block here in NYC without coming face to face with Meryl Streep. She’s on bus shelter ads (as Julia Child) all over town, and it’s getting us all atwitter (and Facebook-y). The movie “Julie & Julia” opens a week from tomorrow and despite mixed reviews, it is sure to attract a large and drooling audience. Julia Child would surely be flabbergasted at the attention that she’s still getting more than four decades after the debut of “The French Chef.” Well-deserved, it is, for the woman who did so much to change the way we cook and eat in the U.S. of A.
